More sketches yaaaay. Most of these are from last week, I just totally forgot to upload them haha! I'm sorry this isn't very exciting, it's mostly just me trying to figure out how cows even work

Maxx is another one of those characters that I work with all the time but literally never draw. He's an elemental by birth and (due to a long string of accidents) ends up a shapeshifter. It's an artificial process that ends up reacting badly with his elemental genes, so whenever he's knocked out he turns into this drippy lava minotaur thing. That was so short I cannot believe I compressed all of Maxx's backstory into two sentences omg I'm proud but also somewhat horrified.

Originally the minotaur was a completely separate entity and personality; a snarky, chain-smoking, standard-looking minotaur in a fur jacket by the name of Aster. Aster is another really old character, and when I trashed my old story the two (both being fire users) somehow just ended up smashed together. But I just realized that I don't like that idea, so I separated them back out! So now the minotaur is more of a brainless beast, and because Maxx's transformations are caused by adrenaline it usually comes out angry. After the threat is gone, though, it just goes back to doing normal cow things (mostly eating) and unintentionally causing fires. 

I haven't decided how I want him to be built yet, but I do know I don't like anything I've sketched! XD Maybe a cross between the last two will be closer?? His build needs to be different from Chayse's, so maybe I should finish her first haha! Idk like I said I'm still working it out, so there'll probably be another one of these eventually. I'm thinking he's literally made out of lava, so pieces of him are constantly hardening and cracking off of he moves

I do like the third headshot though, I threw a little mandrill in the mix heh heh. I'll probably end up mixing them all together in the end though 

Even though I haven't nailed down all the details yet I'm really liking the changes heh heh. Mostly because both Chayse and Ash's fighting styles rely on physical contact, so the only one who will really be able to fight him when he transforms is Shade, which makes me laugh because Shade can't fight at all. Chayse and Ash are going to probably be yelling at him too because he's terrible o ho ho man it's making me chuckle already, I should draw that one day. 

I started out adjusting things in his human form (I'd made a lot of changes in my head but I hadn't actually draw them and applied them to his design) but even changing the tiniest of things made him almost totally unrecognizable??? It was really annoying ugh, I didn't realize I had such a solid image of him in my head X'D

Maxx is one of those characters that I've always been a bit hesitant to introduce, not only because he's dear to my heart but mainly because he reads a lot like Prince Zuko at first??? I know whenever anyone sees a fire controlling prince with daddy issues Zuko is the first character they think of. At least I do, maybe it's just me X'D</sub>
